Kolhapur Pharmacy Diploma Holder Cheated of Rs 10 Lakh in Govt Job Scam

Police in Kolhapur have registered a serious case against two public health officials. The officials allegedly cheated a pharmacy diploma holder of Rs 10 lakh. They promised him a government job as a pharmacist.

Details of the Alleged Fraud

The Phaltan Rural Police Station filed the case on January 16. The complainant is a 24-year-old man. He currently works with a private pharmaceutical company. The suspects include a state health department official. Another suspect works at the Pune Zilla Parishad's health department.

The alleged deal happened on October 10 last year. The victim transferred the money on October 29. He realized he was cheated when his name did not appear on the shortlisted candidates list.

How the Scam Unfolded

The victim applied for the Grade C pharmacist post. The Directorate of Medical Education in Mumbai advertised the position. During a visit to Pune's ZP office, he met a staffer from the health department.

"The staffer called me and offered help to secure the post," the complainant stated in his written complaint. "I applied based on his assurance. He visited my village and demanded Rs 10 lakh. He even called a senior health official and showed me their conversation."

To arrange the money, the victim made a difficult decision. He deposited his mother's gold jewellery with a bank. He then transferred Rs 10 lakh to the ZP staffer's bank account.

"Later, he assured me that my name would appear in the shortlisted candidates list," the complainant added. "But it never happened. That is when I understood I was cheated."

Police Investigation Underway

Sub-inspector Dipak Pawar is the investigating officer in this case. He confirmed that a police team is en route to Pune. The team aims to apprehend one of the accused.

"Soon we will have one of the accused in custody," Pawar stated. The police are actively pursuing the suspects to bring them to justice.

This case highlights the risks job seekers face. It also underscores the importance of verifying job offers through official channels. Authorities urge the public to report such fraudulent activities immediately.
