A heartbreaking incident unfolded in Kochi on Friday morning. A six-year-old girl and her father were found dead inside their rented house in the Elamakkara area. The local police have registered a case of unnatural death.
Victims Identified as Father and Daughter
The deceased have been identified as thirty-three-year-old Pavishankar and his young daughter, Vasuki Pavishankar. Pavishankar originally hailed from Panavally in Cherthala. He worked as a salesperson but had reportedly been without a job for some time.
Gruesome Discovery in Ponekkara Home
Authorities made the grim discovery in the family's rented home located in Ponekkara. Pavishankar was found hanging inside the residence. His six-year-old daughter, Vasuki, was discovered dead on a bed within the same house.
Police strongly suspect that Pavishankar killed his young daughter before taking his own life. Initial indications suggest Vasuki may have been poisoned. Investigators believe the tragic events occurred sometime between 11:30 PM on Thursday and 11:00 AM on Friday.
Mother Returns to Find House Locked
The tragedy began to unravel when Vasuki's mother, Snasha, returned home from her work shift. She arrived at 11:30 PM on Thursday to find the house locked from the outside. Both her husband and daughter were missing.
Snasha immediately tried calling Pavishankar, but his phone was switched off. Unable to reach them, she went to her cousin Sabareesan's house in Poothotta for help. The family spent a sleepless night trying to contact Pavishankar without success.
Final Check Reveals the Tragedy
By morning, with still no word from Pavishankar, Snasha and her cousin decided to file a formal police complaint. They first made one last attempt to check the Elamakkara house themselves.
When they reached the residence, they found the door unlocked. Someone had left the key in the door. The duo entered the house and made the horrific discovery of the two bodies.
Police Investigation Underway
Elamakkara police have registered a case under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). This section deals specifically with cases of unnatural death. Officers are now conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding this double tragedy.
While the autopsy report is still awaited to officially confirm the causes of death, police have shared their initial assessment. Investigators suspect that severe financial constraints may have driven Pavishankar to take this extreme step. However, they emphasize that a detailed investigation is necessary to confirm this theory.
