Khargone Police Crack Down on Burglary Ring, Arrest Juvenile Mastermind
In a significant breakthrough, Khargone police have arrested three individuals, including a juvenile mastermind, in connection with a series of burglaries targeting unoccupied houses in Barwaha town. The authorities have successfully recovered stolen gold, silver, cash, and other valuables with an estimated worth of approximately Rs 90 lakh from the accused.
Details of the Burglaries and Police Action
Superintendent of Police Ravindra Verma addressed the media on Tuesday, revealing that the investigation began on January 30, 2026, when Arun Sharma, a resident of Vinoba Marg in Barwaha, filed a complaint. Sharma reported that his house was burgled between January 26 and 29 while he was away for his mother's medical treatment. The stolen items included three gold bars weighing 100 grams each, gold ornaments totaling around 370 grams, five silver bars each weighing 1 kilogram, a laptop, and various clothes.
Another complaint was lodged by Khushyal, who stated that thieves broke open the rear door of his construction material shop and stole around Rs 30,000. Following these reports, police teams meticulously scanned CCTV footage from the crime scenes and surrounding areas. Through this analysis and a crucial tip-off, they identified a 16-year-old suspect as a key figure in the crimes.
Confession and Recovery of Stolen Goods
The juvenile was promptly detained and, during questioning, confessed to committing the thefts along with two accomplices: 22-year-old Harsh Prajapati and 19-year-old Divyansh Prajapati, both residents of Barwaha. Based on their disclosures, police recovered nearly all the stolen valuables. This included the gold and silver bars, ornaments, Rs 28,550 in cash, and the scooter used in the commission of the crimes. Notably, the accused had hidden the stolen gold and silver ornaments in a heap of trash to evade detection.
Background of the Victims and Accused
Barwaha Sub-Divisional Officer of Police Archana Rawat provided additional context, explaining that Arun Sharma and his sister work as event managers, while other family members are employed in the medical field in New Delhi. Due to the illness of their mother, a retired health official, the family decided to shift to Barwaha and were unable to secure their valuables in a locker at the time of the burglary.
Rawat emphasized that the juvenile played a critical role by conducting reconnaissance and gathering information before executing the crimes. Police further revealed that the arrested individuals have prior criminal records involving theft and assault, indicating a pattern of unlawful behavior.
This case highlights the effectiveness of police work in tackling organized crime and serves as a reminder for residents to enhance security measures for their properties.
