Cyril Jos, a resident of Srikariam in Thiruvananthapuram district, Kerala, arrived at a resort in Hampi on December 16 for a vacation. The following day, he stepped out for a morning walk and tragically never returned. His personal belongings, including his bag and cellphone, were left behind at the resort, prompting immediate concern.

Body Found Near Tungabhadra Canal

After he was reported missing, a search operation was launched. On Friday evening, his body was finally spotted near the Tungabhadra Left Bank Canal adjacent to Basapur village in Koppal taluk. The location is not far from the popular tourist destination of Hampi. The Munirabad police station has registered a case and an investigation is currently underway to determine the exact circumstances leading to his death.

At the time of his death, Cyril Jos was serving as a professor at the Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Communication in Gujarat. His untimely demise has cut short a promising academic career.
