Chicken Curry Argument Escalates to Fatal Assault in Kerala Village
A seemingly trivial domestic disagreement over food turned tragically violent in the quiet village of Koundanur, Palakkad district, resulting in the alleged murder of a 45-year-old man by his own nephew. The incident, which occurred during a meal, has sent shockwaves through the local community and prompted a cross-border police manhunt.
Details of the Fatal Altercation
According to official reports from the Kozhinjampara police station, the deceased has been identified as Senthil Kumar, a resident of Koundanur in Ozhakapathy. Kumar, who was unmarried, shared his home with his sister. Her son, Prabhakaran, has been named as the prime accused in this brutal case.
The fateful evening began with both men consuming alcohol and sitting down for dinner together. Tensions flared when Kumar, who had prepared chicken curry at home, reportedly did not share the dish with his nephew. This act of withholding the food sparked a heated argument between the two relatives.
The Violent Aftermath and Police Response
The verbal dispute quickly escalated into physical violence. As per the First Information Report (FIR) registered by authorities, Prabhakaran allegedly blocked Kumar on the road directly in front of their house. In a fit of rage, he then attacked his uncle with a white-coloured pipe, striking him repeatedly on the head and other parts of his body.
The assault left Kumar critically injured and collapsed on the spot. He was rushed to a nearby private hospital by concerned neighbors, but medical professionals declared him dead upon arrival. The severity of the injuries proved fatal.
Police officials confirmed that the accused fled the scene immediately after the incident, escaping on a motorcycle. Investigators strongly suspect that Prabhakaran has crossed state lines into neighboring Tamil Nadu to evade capture.
Ongoing Investigation and Legal Proceedings
The Kozhinjampara police have registered a formal case of murder against Prabhakaran and are conducting a thorough investigation. A coordinated search operation is currently underway, with Kerala police receiving assistance from their counterparts in Tamil Nadu to track down the fugitive.
Authorities have stated that Kumar's body will be handed over to his grieving family following the completion of a mandatory postmortem examination at the government hospital. The forensic procedure aims to establish the exact cause of death and gather additional evidence for the prosecution.
This tragic incident highlights how domestic disputes can spiral into extreme violence, especially when alcohol is involved. The local community remains in a state of disbelief, struggling to comprehend how a simple argument over a meal could result in such a devastating loss of life.
