Kerala Police Arrest Man for Alleged Sexual Assault of 15-Year-Old Girl
In a disturbing case from Kerala, the Kilimanoor police on Sunday arrested a 52-year-old man from Karette for allegedly sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl on multiple occasions. The incidents reportedly occurred between December 2025 and March 2026, highlighting a prolonged period of abuse.
Mother Accused of Aiding the Assault
Police have also filed a case against the girl's mother for allegedly aiding in the assault. According to authorities, the mother is currently in hiding. She is described as an acquaintance of the accused, which police say facilitated the crimes.
The mother was living separately from her husband and resided in a rented house with her two daughters. Taking advantage of their acquaintance, the accused frequently visited the house and assaulted the elder daughter, even in the mother's presence.
Details Emerge During Counselling
Due to the harassment, the girl had an argument with her mother and went to live with her father. When she refused to return to her mother's house, the father, with the help of a local representative, took her to a rehabilitation centre.
During counselling sessions at the centre, the full details of the assault came to light. Based on the information provided by the rehabilitation centre, police registered a formal case.
Legal Proceedings Underway
The accused was presented in court and remanded in judicial custody for 14 days. He has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act, which carries stringent penalties for crimes against minors.
This case underscores the critical role of support systems and timely intervention in protecting vulnerable children from abuse.
