Karnataka Government Intensifies Fight Against Drugs with Police Marathon Initiative
In a significant move to combat drug abuse and promote public health, the Karnataka government has launched a proactive initiative through a police marathon in Hubballi. Deputy Commissioner R Snehal officially inaugurated the event, underscoring the state's unwavering commitment to creating a drug-free environment and safeguarding its youth.
Marathon Aims to Raise Awareness and Foster Community Engagement
The marathon, organized under the banner 'Our police is our pride', was held near Tholanakere in Vidyanagar, Hubballi. It centered on three critical themes: 'Fitness for all', 'Drug-free Karnataka', and 'Cyber crime awareness'. Deputy Commissioner Snehal emphasized that protecting young people from the scourge of drug addiction and maintaining robust law and order across the state are top priorities for the government.
"The purpose of this marathon is profoundly important," Snehal stated during the inauguration on Sunday. "Our goal is to make Karnataka drug-free, and this event symbolizes our resolve to take strict action against drug networks while encouraging a healthy lifestyle."
Police Officials Highlight Growing Concerns Over Drug Abuse
Speaking to the media, Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar elaborated on the motivations behind organizing the marathon. He pointed out that in recent times, there has been a noticeable decline in public awareness regarding fitness, coupled with a troubling rise in drug involvement among youth, which is devastating lives and futures.
"With these pressing issues in mind, we organized 5km and 10km marathons to not only promote physical well-being but also to educate the community about the dangers of drugs and cybercrimes," Kumar explained. The event aimed to bridge gaps in awareness and foster a collective effort toward a safer, healthier society.
Broad Participation Underscores Community Support
The marathon witnessed enthusiastic participation from a diverse group of individuals, reflecting widespread community backing for the cause. Attendees included Dharwad Superintendent of Police Gunjan Arya, DCP (Crime & Traffic) CR Raveesh, numerous police officers, college students, and other citizens. Their involvement highlighted a unified front against drug abuse and a shared commitment to fitness and cybersecurity.
This initiative marks a strategic step by the Karnataka government and police force to address drug-related challenges through community engagement and awareness campaigns.
