Karnataka CID Arrests Former Belur MLA in Land Allocation Scam
The Karnataka Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested the former Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) of Belur in connection with an alleged land allocation scam. The arrest follows a complaint lodged by Rajanna, which claimed that around 2,750 acres of government land was unlawfully sanctioned to 1,430 bogus beneficiaries based on forged documents.
The CID took the former MLA into custody after a thorough investigation into the irregularities. According to officials, the accused is believed to have played a key role in the fraudulent allocation of prime government land. The scam came to light after Rajanna's complaint detailed how fake identities and fabricated records were used to transfer land titles.
Authorities are now probing the involvement of other officials and intermediaries in the case. The arrested ex-MLA is expected to be produced before a local court, where the CID will seek custody for further interrogation. The investigation aims to recover the illegally allocated land and bring all culprits to justice.
This development marks a significant step in Karnataka's crackdown on land fraud. The CID has assured that no one involved in the scam will be spared, and the law will take its course. The case has drawn attention to the need for stricter verification processes in land allotment to prevent such irregularities in the future.
