Kanpur Man Dies After Brutal Attack by School Watchman, Wife Critical

Devkinandan Paswan, a 50-year-old resident of Malikpur, died late on Sunday night in Kanpur Dehat. He and his wife Mamta suffered a brutal attack following an altercation with a school watchman and his wife.

Police confirmed the incident occurred in Bannapur under the Shivli police station area. Mamta sustained critical injuries during the assault.

Daughter's Account Reveals Daily Harassment

The victim's daughter filed a police complaint detailing the events. She stated that the school watchman, Govind, regularly abused her family after consuming alcohol.

On Sunday evening, when her father attempted to intervene, Govind and his wife Sangam launched a violent assault on both parents.

Second Attack After Hospital Visit

The daughter initially called an ambulance but, seeing her parents' condition worsen, transported them to CHC Shivli in a private vehicle.

Upon returning home, Gomti and others attacked the couple again. They used sticks, rods, and hammers in this second assault.

Medical staff referred both victims to Lala Lajpat Rai (LLR) hospital. Devkinandan Paswan succumbed to his injuries there, while Mamta remains in critical condition.

Police Investigation Underway

Shivli station officer Praveen Kumar Yadav explained the background. Devkinandan previously worked as a watchman at the same school.

The school management removed him some time ago and hired Govind from the same village. This personnel change sparked the ongoing dispute between the two men.

ASP Rajesh Pandey provided details about the police response. "We registered an FIR on Sunday night itself," he stated.

The initial charges included attempt to murder based on the daughter's complaint. Police are now amending the FIR sections following the victim's death.

"We have formed special teams to arrest the accused," ASP Pandey confirmed. The investigation continues as authorities work to apprehend those responsible for this violent crime.
