Kanpur Husband Files Police Complaint Against Friend for Wife Abduction
A man in Kanpur has lodged a formal complaint at the Rail Bazar police station, accusing his close friend of abducting his wife and attempting to forcibly convert her religion. The husband, whose identity remains protected, was accompanied by local BJP workers when filing the complaint, adding political undertones to the sensitive case.
Marital Dispute Preceded Wife's Disappearance
The complainant detailed that his wife had been residing at her maternal home following ongoing marital disputes. According to his statement, she vanished without warning on April 10, abandoning their two young children. This sudden disappearance prompted immediate concern and investigation.
The husband specifically named his friend Aman as the primary suspect, alleging that Aman had been making frequent visits to his wife at her maternal residence. These visits, he claimed, created an environment of suspicion and ultimately led to the abduction.
Disturbing Allegations Surface Through Family Message
Further complicating the case, the husband's sister-in-law received a troubling message containing allegations from another woman. This message accused Aman of systematically misleading young women with false promises. The woman claimed Aman had kept her confined in Assam for eight full years under the pretense of marriage, suggesting a potential pattern of predatory behavior.
"This additional testimony significantly strengthened the husband's complaint," noted a police source familiar with the investigation.
Police Action and Official Clarification
Station In-Charge Aman Singh confirmed that an First Information Report (FIR) was officially registered based on the husband's detailed written complaint. Following standard procedure, the accused individual, Aman, was promptly arrested and is currently undergoing intensive interrogation by authorities.
However, Singh provided a crucial clarification regarding the religious conversion aspect of the allegations. "While the complaint mentions attempted religious conversion, our preliminary investigation has not substantiated this specific claim. Therefore, there is currently no registered case of religious conversion," Singh stated definitively.
Broader Implications and Community Response
The involvement of BJP workers during the complaint filing has drawn attention to the political dimensions often associated with such sensitive cases in Uttar Pradesh. Community leaders have called for a thorough and impartial investigation to ensure justice is served without external influence.
Local residents expressed mixed reactions, with some emphasizing the need to protect women from potential exploitation, while others cautioned against premature judgments before all evidence is examined. The case continues to develop as police pursue multiple lines of inquiry.
