Kanpur Police Sub-Inspector Critically Injured in Hit-and-Run Incident
A sub-inspector was severely injured after being run over by a vehicle during a routine vehicle check in Kanpur. The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of the Bithoor police station area, specifically at Tikra Chowki, late on Monday night around 1 AM.
Details of the Tragic Event
According to police sources, Tikra Chowki in-charge Balendra Singh attempted to stop an SUV for inspection. However, the driver refused to comply and accelerated, fleeing towards Tikra town. In the process, the vehicle ran over Sub-Inspector Pradeep Kumar and a local trader, Phool Singh Kashyap.
The SUV subsequently lost control near the Pandu river and plunged into a 10-foot deep ditch. The occupants of the vehicle managed to escape from the scene before authorities could apprehend them.
Response and Aftermath
Fellow police personnel immediately rushed the injured sub-inspector to a hospital for urgent medical attention. Meanwhile, Phool Singh Kashyap, a resident of Kashyap Nagar under the Kalyanpur police station area in Tikra town, was taken to a private nursing home in Kalyanpur. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries there.
Bithoor Station In-charge Inspector Ashok Kumar Saroj provided an update on the investigation. He stated that the police have successfully removed the damaged vehicle from the ditch with the assistance of a JCB and have seized it as part of the ongoing probe. Sub-Inspector Pradeep Kumar is currently undergoing treatment at Paras Hospital in Singhpur, where his condition is being closely monitored.
