A 46-year-old solar panel trader in Kanpur died by suicide at his business outlet on Monday night, leaving behind a detailed note alleging fraud by his business partner. The incident has sent shockwaves through the Barra locality.
Tragic Discovery and Suicide Note Details
Omendra Singh, a resident of Barra, was found dead at his Vishwa Bank Barra outlet. His wife, Anjana Sachan, a staff nurse at Lala Lajpat Rai (LLR) hospital, discovered his body hanging from a ceiling fan on the second floor around 9 pm on Monday. Police reported that his wrists showed multiple cut marks, and a blood-stained knife was recovered from the room.
The investigation led to the recovery of a two-page suicide note. In the note, Singh held his business partner, Divyendra Sachan from Damodar Nagar, responsible for his extreme step. The note also contained a slogan praising Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. It included a heartfelt request that his family not be troubled and that his children be taken care of.
Alleged Fraud and Growing Stress
According to Singh's younger brother, Uday Singh, who works for a multinational company in Noida, Omendra had been running a solar-panel rooftop-fitting business with Divyendra Sachan for approximately six years. Uday alleged that over the past year, Divyendra defrauded his brother.
"When Divyendra's act came to light, Omendra had a dispute with him. After that, he was under immense stress," Uday told the police. The alleged financial betrayal appears to have been the primary trigger for the tragic event.
Police Investigation and Manhunt
Upon being alerted by the family, the Barra police and a forensic team swiftly reached the scene. Barra police station in-charge Ravindra Kumar Srivastava confirmed that they have taken the suicide note and the deceased's mobile phone into custody. The body was sent for a post-mortem examination.
"Based on the contents of the suicide note, a raid was conducted at the business partner's house, but he had already fled by then," stated Srivastava. He added that legal action is being initiated based on the formal complaint lodged by Omendra Singh's grieving family. A search is underway to locate and apprehend Divyendra Sachan.
The family was present in the house during the incident. Omendra's mother, Ramwati, and his nephews, Mandavya and Martandya, were on the first floor when the tragedy unfolded on the floor above.
