Major Police Operation in Kadapa District Leads to Multiple Arrests
In a significant crackdown on organized crime, the Kadapa district police have successfully busted a gang involved in peddling ganja and manufacturing spurious liquor in Pulivendula town. The operation resulted in the arrest of 18 persons directly connected to these illegal activities, marking a substantial victory for law enforcement in the region.
Coordinated Raid Based on Intelligence Tip-Off
Acting on precise instructions from Kadapa Superintendent of Police Shelke Nachiket Vishwanath, a specialized team led by Pulivendula Deputy Superintendent of Police B Murali executed a well-planned raid. The operation was initiated following a credible tip-off about criminal activities at a vacant site near Velamavaripalli, located adjacent to the Kadiri ring road in close proximity to Pulivendula.
During the initial phase of the crackdown, police apprehended 18 individuals who were actively engaged in ganja smuggling and the illicit brewing of arrack. Authorities reported that the gang was in the process of preparing to distribute approximately 15 kilograms of ganja when they were caught red-handed by the raiding party.
Expanded Investigation Yields Further Arrests and Seizures
Following the initial arrests, additional intelligence gathered during interrogations led police to eight more suspects involved in the criminal network. This expanded investigation resulted in the confiscation of 110 litres of country-made liquor from the possession of these additional accused persons.
The comprehensive operation has dealt a significant blow to the illegal drug and liquor trade in the Pulivendula area, with police seizing substantial quantities of contraband that were destined for distribution in the local community.
Notorious Prime Accused with Criminal History
Police identified Gorla Bharat Yadav as the prime accused in the case, noting that he already had multiple criminal cases registered against him by Pulivendula police prior to this latest arrest. According to SP Nachiket, who addressed reporters in Pulivendula on Tuesday, Yadav transformed into a drug dealer after establishing contact with an established ganja peddler named Sheik Riyaz while previously in police remand.
"While in remand, he came in contact with a ganja peddler, Sheik Riyaz, and later turned into a drug dealer," Nachiket explained during the press briefing, highlighting how existing criminals sometimes expand their illegal operations while in custody.
Ongoing Efforts Against Organized Crime
The successful operation demonstrates the Kadapa district police's continued commitment to combating organized crime networks involved in drug trafficking and illicit liquor production. By dismantling this particular gang, authorities have disrupted a significant supply chain that was operating in the Pulivendula region.
Police officials have indicated that investigations are continuing to identify any additional accomplices or connections that might be linked to the busted criminal network. The arrests serve as a strong warning to other criminal elements operating in the district about the consequences of engaging in illegal drug and liquor activities.
