JPSC Aspirant Targeted in Early Morning Robbery in Hazaribag
In a distressing incident in Hazaribag, a state civil services aspirant was allegedly robbed and assaulted by unidentified individuals who offered him a lift to his examination centre. The victim, Dheeraj Kumar from Shiv Mohalla in Koderma, was on his way to appear for the JPSC exam at Dumri in Giridih district on Sunday morning.
Details of the Alleged Assault and Robbery
According to police reports, Kumar was waiting for a bus at Barhi block in Hazaribag around 4:30 am when an SUV with four to five occupants stopped near him. The occupants claimed they were also heading to the same exam centre and offered him a ride. However, after traveling approximately 1.5 to 2 kilometers, the vehicle suddenly turned back.
The occupants then allegedly assaulted Kumar and robbed him of his gold locket, a ring, around Rs 2,000 in cash, and his mobile phone. When he resisted, he was beaten up. The accused later threw him out of the vehicle near the Tilaiya overbridge and fled the scene.
Police Investigation Underway
Kumar subsequently lodged a complaint at Barhi police station. Barhi police station officer in-charge Binod Kumar stated that an investigation is currently underway. Efforts are on to identify the vehicle owner and trace the accused, he emphasized, highlighting the seriousness with which authorities are treating the case.
This incident has raised concerns about safety for students and aspirants traveling early in the morning for important examinations. The local community is urging for increased vigilance and security measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.
