JJP Leaders File Human Rights Complaint Against Hisar Police Over Alleged Illegal Raids
Days after disturbances at the Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology (GJUST) campus, multiple leaders and workers of the Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) have formally approached the Haryana State Human Rights Commission. They have leveled serious allegations of illegal midnight raids, systematic harassment, and blatant violations of fundamental rights by the Hisar police force.
Details of the Alleged Police Operation
The complainants—identified as Gaurav Saini, Ravindra Kumar (alias Ravi), Tarun Goyal, Vijendra Dhanak, and Jitendra Sheoran—assert that on the night of April 16-17, 2026, multiple police teams conducted coordinated late-night raids. These actions were reportedly linked to a First Information Report (FIR) registered at the Hisar City police station. Crucially, the petitioners claim they were not named in the FIR but were targeted solely due to their political affiliation with the JJP and its associated student wing.
According to the detailed complaint, the police teams, which included a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), inspectors, and other officials—many operating in plain clothes—reportedly raided several residential properties. The complainants allege these raids were executed:
- Without the issuance of any warrants or prior notices.
- In the absence of mandatory women police personnel during searches.
- By forcibly entering homes and conducting searches without following established legal protocols.
- Resulting in the detention of individuals without due process.
Specific Incident Involving JJP Youth Wing President
The complaint highlights a particularly disturbing incident involving Gaurav Saini, the president of the JJP Youth Wing in Hisar city. It is alleged that around 4:30 AM, a police team forcefully entered his residence in Vijay Nagar. The officers are accused of conducting a thorough search of the premises and seizing a Digital Video Recorder (DVR) connected to CCTV cameras without providing any receipt or official documentation for the confiscated item.
Family members, including women present in the household, were reportedly subjected to threats and verbal abuse during the operation. Furthermore, the complaint states that Saini, despite not being named in the FIR, was taken to the police station and coerced into signing unspecified documents under duress.
Broader Allegations and Demands for Action
The petitioners have collectively accused the Hisar police of committing "atrocities, torture, and harassment" against them. They maintain that their homes were singled out exclusively because of their political connections to the JJP. Additional grievances include allegations of property damage and the intimidation of family members during the course of the raids.
Seeking immediate intervention and justice, the complainants have urgently appealed to the Human Rights Commission to:
- Take stringent disciplinary action against all police officials involved in the alleged misconduct.
- Initiate an independent and impartial inquiry into the reported violations of human rights and legal procedures.
At the time this report was filed, there was no official response or statement available from the Hisar police department regarding these serious allegations. The situation remains under scrutiny as the Human Rights Commission reviews the formal complaint.
