Jharsuguda Police Crack Down on Inter-District Drug Trafficking Ring

In a significant breakthrough against narcotics trade, Jharsuguda police successfully dismantled an inter-district drug network on Saturday through their specialized initiative Operation Netra. The operation led to the arrest of seven individuals accused of possessing and selling brown sugar, a form of heroin, marking a crucial step in curbing illegal substance distribution in the region.

Coordinated Police Action Leads to Major Seizure

Acting on precise intelligence regarding the illegal transportation and sale of contraband, a dedicated police team was assembled under the guidance of senior officers. This team strategically intercepted the suspects at a key location within Jharsuguda police station's jurisdiction, resulting in the recovery of 12.48 grams of brown sugar from their possession.

The seizure was conducted meticulously in the presence of an executive magistrate and independent witnesses, adhering strictly to the procedures outlined in the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. In addition to the drugs, authorities confiscated seven mobile phones, a red-colored pouch, Rs 1,550 in cash, a plastic mat, gift-wrapping paper, three plastic spoons, and one scissor as evidence.

Arrested Accused and Their Alleged Roles

Police have identified the seven arrested individuals, who hail from various locations, highlighting the network's inter-district reach:

Police Investigation Reveals Network Operations

Jharsuguda Superintendent of Police G.R. They allegedly sourced the contraband from one area and distributed it in another district for financial profit, with reports indicating they specifically targeted vulnerable youth."

A formal case has been registered under the NDPS Act, and police are continuing their investigation to uncover further details about the network's operations and potential connections. This bust underscores the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat drug abuse and protect communities from the harmful effects of narcotics trade.
