Major Child Trafficking Racket Busted by Jharkhand Police

Jharkhand Police achieved a significant breakthrough on Sunday. They dismantled a widespread inter-state child trafficking network. Officers successfully rescued twelve abducted children during this operation.

Widespread Gang Operations and Arrests

The criminal gang operated across multiple states. Their activities spanned Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, and Uttar Pradesh. Police arrested thirteen members of this trafficking ring. These arrests occurred in all five affected states.

Senior Superintendent of Police Rakesh Ranjan addressed the media in Ranchi. He confirmed the rescue of twelve children. A Special Investigation Team led this successful operation.

Details of the Rescued Children

Among the rescued children, ten are girls and two are boys. Their ages range from four to twelve years. Police abducted these children from various districts within Jharkhand.

The affected districts include:

  • Ranchi
  • Bokaro
  • Dhanbad
  • Chaibasa
  • Latehar

All rescued children now stay at the Dhurwa police station. Authorities arranged DNA tests for proper identification. These tests will help reunite children with their families.

Gang History and Modus Operandi

Investigators identified the group as the 'Gulgulia Gang'. This gang engaged in child theft for approximately ten years. They specifically targeted children from economically disadvantaged families.

Police explained the gang's strategy. They exploited families with limited legal awareness. These families often hesitated to approach law enforcement agencies.

Recent Breakthrough and Sibling Rescue

The recent operation followed another important recovery. Ranchi police's Special Investigation Team found two missing siblings earlier. These children disappeared on January second.

Officers safely recovered them from Chitarpur in Ramgarh district on January fourteenth. The gang intended to sell these two siblings. Timely police intervention prevented this transaction.

Ongoing Investigation and Interrogations

Police continue questioning approximately two dozen suspects. The investigation remains active and expanding. SSP Ranjan emphasized that their work continues across state borders.

This case highlights coordinated efforts against organized child trafficking. It demonstrates effective inter-state police collaboration in India.
