Jharkhand Police Intensify Security at Banks, Jewellery Shops After Theft Attempts
Jharkhand Police Boost Security at Banks, Jewellery Shops

District police forces across Jharkhand are taking decisive action. They are reviewing and strengthening security arrangements at banks, jewellery shops, and other financial institutions. This move comes in direct response to a series of attempted thefts reported across the state.

Specific Measures in Key Districts

Police in different districts are implementing tailored strategies to deter crime and improve safety.

Bokaro's Ban on Masks

In Bokaro district, police have issued a clear order. They have banned the entry of masked persons inside jewellery shops. This measure aims to deter criminal activities. It also seeks to improve identification through existing CCTV surveillance systems.

Ranchi's Safety Audits and Appeals

Ranchi police have intensified their safety audit procedures. Officers are actively appealing to jewellery shop owners. They are urging owners to ensure all necessary safety measures are properly in place.

Ranchi SP (City) Paras Rana provided specific details. "Our personnel are regularly monitoring jewellery shops," he said. "This monitoring is especially focused during their opening and closing times."

SP Rana also mentioned ongoing appeals to business owners. "We have made appeals to the owners to deploy adequate security personnel," he stated. "We are also asking them to install CCTV cameras that cover all nooks and corners of their premises."

He addressed the issue of masks directly. "However, masks are not yet banned in Ranchi," SP Rana clarified. "We recognize that many people may have legitimate health reasons to wear masks."

The SP outlined further essential requirements for stores. "Apart from CCTV installation and security personnel, stores must also ensure the installation of alarm systems," he added. "These alarms are crucial to inform authorities about any unauthorised entry during closed hours."

Koderma's Special Security Campaign

In Koderma district, a special security audit campaign has been launched. SP Anudeep Singh announced that this campaign started on Saturday. Its primary aim is to further strengthen law and order across the district.

The campaign has three core objectives:

  1. Ensuring effective prevention of crimes.
  2. Reinforcing the security arrangements of jewellery shops.
  3. Securing banks and other financial institutions.

SP Singh detailed the campaign's scope. "Under this campaign, we conducted a thorough security inspection," he explained. The inspection covered a wide range of establishments:

  • Jewellery shops.
  • Nationalized and private banks.
  • ATM kiosks.
  • Microfinance institutions.
  • Other financial institutions.

These inspections took place in all police station and outpost areas of Koderma district.

The SP issued clear instructions to his team. "Police station in-charges have been instructed to ensure the presence of proper security measures in all institutions within their areas," he stated firmly.

A Statewide Push for Security

The coordinated efforts across Bokaro, Ranchi, and Koderma reflect a broader statewide initiative. Jharkhand police are proactively addressing the recent spike in theft attempts. Their focus remains on preventive measures, technological aids like CCTVs and alarms, and direct engagement with business owners to safeguard valuable assets.
