The arrests, made on Wednesday, led to the recovery of firearms and other incriminating evidence, highlighting the police's proactive efforts to curb organized crime in the region.

Details of the Police Raid and Arrests

At a press briefing on Thursday, SP (City) Kumar Shivashish revealed that the operation was initiated following a credible tip-off about criminals gathering to plan a major crime. A specialized police team, led by Deputy SP (City) Sunil Chaudhary, conducted a swift raid at a house under the Golmuri police station limits.

As officers arrived at the location, the suspects attempted to flee, but were swiftly apprehended after a brief chase. During subsequent interrogation, it was confirmed that the seven individuals were allegedly part of a contract killing gang, involved in planning serious criminal activities.

Recovered Evidence and Seizures

The police recovered substantial evidence from the arrested individuals, including:

  • One country-made pistol loaded with three live cartridges
  • Four additional live bullets
  • A dagger and a sharp knife

In addition to the weapons, authorities seized an SUV and Rs 22,000 in cash, further implicating the gang in illicit operations. All the accused, aged between 19 and 32 years, are residents of various police station areas in Jamshedpur and the adjoining Seraikela town, indicating a localized network.
