Jalandhar: A day after bullets were fired at a fashion store near Kishanpura Chowk on Friday afternoon, the Jalandhar police on Saturday arrested one accused, while search is on for the second. Store owners said that they received an extortion call on Thursday evening and then another call in the presence of police officers after the firing on Friday.
Police Investigation
Commissioner of Police Dhanpreet Kaur said that preliminary investigation revealed the possibility of the involvement of an organised criminal network behind the incident. The arrested accused, Kush, is a local resident, and the other accused is also a local resident.
Extortion Calls
Shop owner Subash Verma on Friday said that when police officers were at his shop for investigation, they received another call, ordering them to cough up the money or members of their family would face the consequences.
The police are continuing their search for the second accused and are investigating the extortion calls and the firing incident thoroughly.
