Jaipur Crime Branch Busts Drug Racket, Seizes Mephedrone Worth Rs 5.5 Lakh
Jaipur Police Arrest 3, Seize Synthetic Drugs Worth Rs 5.5L

In a significant crackdown on narcotics trafficking, the Jaipur Crime Branch apprehended three individuals and confiscated a substantial quantity of synthetic drugs with an international market value estimated at Rs 5.50 lakh. The operation was conducted on Tuesday in the city's Transport Nagar area under the ongoing "Clean Sweep" initiative.

Operation Clean Sweep Nets Major Haul

Acting on specific intelligence regarding illegal drug trade in the Transport Nagar locality, specialized teams from the crime branch swung into action. Special Police Commissioner (Operations) Rahul Prakash stated that the information led them to intercept a Tata Tiago car. A thorough search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of 53.72 grams of mephedrone (MD) crystal, a potent synthetic stimulant.

Accused Identified, Car Seized

The police have identified the three arrested men. They are Tarun Singh (29) from Shanti Nagar in Sodala, Lokendra Singh (26) from Majdoor Nagar on Ajmer Road, and Prashant Sharma (32) from Vaishali Nagar. Authorities also seized the car used for transporting the illicit substances. A formal case has been registered under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Transport Nagar police station.

Probing Interstate Links and Supply Chain

During preliminary interrogation, the accused revealed that they had procured the contraband from Faridabad in Haryana, allegedly from a Nigerian national. Commissioner Prakash emphasized that the crime branch is intensifying its efforts to dismantle synthetic drug networks operating in Jaipur. "Such operations will continue to break supply chains and identify both local distributors and inter-state connections," he asserted.

The investigation is now focused on multiple critical angles:

  • Tracing the financial trail of the accused.
  • Mapping the detailed supply routes used for trafficking.
  • Uncovering possible links to a larger interstate narcotics network.

With the probe actively progressing, police officials have indicated that further arrests are likely in the near future as they work to uproot the entire syndicate.
