Jaipur Police Announces Circular Traffic System for Key Roads During Construction

In a significant move to address growing traffic concerns, the Jaipur police have unveiled plans to implement a circular traffic movement system on crucial stretches of JLN Marg and Jhalana bypass road. This temporary arrangement is scheduled to commence from September and will involve converting select portions into one-way corridors to effectively manage congestion during upcoming infrastructure works.

Driving Factors Behind the Traffic Plan

The proposal stems from parallel projects being undertaken by the Rajasthan Metro Railway Corporation (RMRC) on Tonk Road under Metro Line 2 and the Jaipur Development Authority's (JDA) elevated road project on Jhalana bypass. Officials have confirmed that these simultaneous construction activities necessitate strategic traffic management to prevent gridlock.

"We have held detailed meetings with both agencies involved in the infrastructure projects," stated a traffic official. "A dedicated traffic plan will be finalized once construction begins and will remain in effect until all works are completed."

Infrastructure Projects and Their Challenges

JDA officials provided insights into the elevated road project, which will span from Jhalana Doongri (Aranya Bhawan) crossing to Balaji Tiraha. This corridor is designed as a three-layered traffic system but currently awaits metro clearance before proceeding.

"There are space constraints for constructing a ramp on the Tila Number 7 side," explained a JDA official. "We anticipate resolving these issues soon and aim to begin construction between September and October."

Meanwhile, RMRC has outlined an ambitious plan to execute Metro Line 2 in seven distinct phases. Construction from Prahladpura to Pinjrapole is expected to commence by May, while work on the B2B Crossing stretch may start within the next four months.

Traffic Management Strategy

With parallel construction activities planned for both roads, traffic officials anticipate increased pressure on JLN Marg, making the circular traffic system essential for regulating vehicle movement and minimizing congestion.

"The circular plan is not just a suggestion but a necessity," emphasized another traffic official. "It will help maintain smooth traffic flow and reduce delays during this critical construction period."

The temporary traffic arrangement represents a proactive approach by Jaipur authorities to balance infrastructure development with daily commuter needs, ensuring that the city's growth doesn't come at the expense of mobility and convenience for its residents.
