Jaipur Mobile Courts Crack Down: Over ₹1 Crore Fines in November for Traffic Violations
Jaipur: ₹1 Crore fines by mobile courts in Nov for traffic rules

In a major push to curb road accidents and improve traffic discipline, mobile courts in Jaipur launched an intensified enforcement drive throughout November. The campaign, focusing on reckless and drunk driving, resulted in prosecution costs exceeding a staggering ₹1 crore collected from violators.

Stringent Penalties for Reckless Drivers

Officials stated that the action forms a crucial part of a coordinated strategy to create a smoother and safer traffic ecosystem in the Pink City. The mobile courts came down heavily on drivers found overspeeding, driving under the influence of alcohol, or committing any traffic violation that endangered other road users. An official emphasized that the courts have been imposing the maximum possible prosecution costs, especially in cases involving drunken driving.

Notable Fines and Vehicle Seizures

The crackdown saw substantial fines being levied on individual vehicles. For instance, in several cases during November, the court imposed fines of ₹20,000 each on vehicles with registration numbers DL1 MA 6652 and RJ06 CB 3221. Similarly, fines of ₹18,000 each were slapped on vehicles RJ14 GQ 4169 and RJ14 PF 1084.

Other significant penalties included:

  • ₹15,000 on vehicle MH43 X 4832
  • ₹14,000 on vehicle RJ26 CA 9648
  • ₹10,000 each on vehicles KA01 JF 4823, RJ0 CI 9191, and RJ18 CI 2085

In a separate instance of routine checking, the mobile court sentenced a driver to imprisonment till the rising of the court (TRC) and also imposed a fine of ₹10,000. In another strict action, a bus bearing registration number RJ14 PD 7516 was found violating traffic rules. The court did not hesitate to seize the bus on the spot. Passengers were safely deboarded and provided with alternative travel arrangements.

Deterrent Effect and Revenue Generation

Authorities report that the heightened enforcement has served a dual purpose. Firstly, it has acted as a strong deterrent against traffic violations, contributing directly to the goal of reducing fatal accidents. Secondly, it has led to a significant surge in revenue for the state. In the month of November alone, the mobile courts collectively deposited more than ₹1 crore as prosecution costs, underscoring the scale of the drive.

The initiative reflects Jaipur's committed effort to instill greater discipline among drivers and ensure the safety of all commuters on the city's roads.
