In a swift operation, the MG Road police in Indore have successfully cracked a case of mobile phone theft, leading to the arrest of two individuals and the recovery of handsets valued at approximately Rs 5 lakh. The theft, which targeted a shop in the bustling Dollar Market, was reported earlier this month.
Shopkeeper's Complaint Triggers Investigation
The case came to light on December 3, when a distressed shopkeeper approached the MG Road police station. He reported that several high-value mobile phones had been stolen from his store. Taking immediate action, police station in-charge Vijay Sisodiya directed his teams to begin an investigation.
The officers started by meticulously reviewing footage from the shop's CCTV cameras and videos from surrounding lanes. Their goal was to identify the culprits behind the brazen theft. The digital scrutiny soon bore fruit, as investigators spotted two individuals who were allegedly involved in the criminal act.
Swift Action Leads to Arrests and Recovery
Once the suspects were identified on camera, the police launched a concerted search to track them down. The accused were identified as 19-year-old Faizal, a resident of Nayta Mundla, and his minor accomplice. By closely monitoring their movements, the police team was able to locate and detain both individuals.
A subsequent search conducted by the officers led to a significant breakthrough. The police recovered a total of 16 stolen mobile phones from the possession of the duo. The estimated market value of the recovered handsets is nearly Rs 5 lakh. According to the police, the stolen phones were all taken from the market during the theft.
