Indore Police Arrest Man with 5 kg Cannabis in Coordinated Sting Operation
In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Tejaji Nagar police in Indore arrested a man on Monday with a substantial quantity of cannabis. The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Kaalu from Dewas district, was apprehended with 5.082 kilograms of cannabis, valued at approximately Rs 1 lakh.
Sting Operation Leads to Arrest
The arrest was the result of a meticulously planned sting operation. Police had earlier taken a local youth into custody, who revealed that narcotics were being supplied from Udainagar in Dewas district. Acting on this information, a police team instructed the youth to place a fake order for five kilograms of cannabis.
A delivery location and time were fixed, and police cordoned off the area in anticipation of the supplier's arrival. Kaalu arrived at the scene on a motorcycle, where he was immediately surrounded and arrested by the waiting officers.
Broader Investigation Underway
Following the arrest, a case was registered against Kaalu. Tejaji Nagar police station in-charge Devendra Markam stated that the investigation aims to dismantle the broader distribution network. "We aim to dismantle the broader distribution network and identify other buyers within Indore," Markam said.
Investigations are also focused on tracing the original source of the illegal drugs in Indore and the neighbouring Dewas region. This operation highlights the police's ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the area.
