Indore MBA Student Murder: Accused Boyfriend Admits to Necrophilia and Occult Rituals
Police in Indore have uncovered a deeply disturbing sequence of events in the murder case of a 24-year-old MBA student, with investigators alleging that the accused boyfriend engaged in necrophilia after killing her and later performed occult rituals in an attempt to communicate with her spirit.
Chilling Details of the Crime
The body of the student was discovered in a rented room in the Dwarkapuri area of Indore on February 10, three days after she was reported missing. The investigation swiftly led police to her boyfriend, identified as Piyush Dhanotiya, who was also her classmate. He was arrested from Andheri in Mumbai on February 14.
During interrogations, Piyush Dhanotiya provided a harrowing account of the murder. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Krishna Lalchandani, the accused stated that he first tied the victim's hands and legs, stuffed cloth into her mouth, and then strangled her inside his rented room. After confirming she had died, he left the premises, purchased beer bottles, and returned to sit drinking beside her body.
He later sexually assaulted the corpse, engaging in necrophilia, before stabbing her in the chest and finally leaving the room. DCP Lalchandani noted that the accused's behavior after the crime remained erratic and highly unusual.
Relationship and Motive
Piyush Dhanotiya, a resident of Mandsaur and a second-year MBA student, was in a relationship with the victim. However, he reportedly suspected that she was in contact with another man. On February 10, he allegedly took her to his flat where a dispute erupted between them, culminating in the strangulation.
Post-Murder Occult Rituals and Suicide Attempts
Following the killing, the accused traveled to a deserted location near Panvel in Mumbai. There, he lit incense sticks and watched online videos about summoning spirits. In the darkness, he muttered apologies and claimed he wanted to communicate with the victim's spirit within hours of the murder.
He also admitted to attempting to jump in front of a train, indicating severe psychological distress. During interrogation at the Dwarakapuri police station, Piyush asked for a blank sheet of paper and wrote that he had committed a grave wrong and wished to die. He repeatedly expressed his love for the victim and requested officers to allow him to meet her.
Investigators revealed that the accused had been consuming occult content online and searching for suicide methods, though he never acted on those searches prior to this incident.
Evidence and Investigation Findings
Police also uncovered that the accused suspected the victim was communicating with other men. After the murder, he used her phone to send a message to her family stating she would not return home, before switching the device off. CCTV footage captured the two entering the room together, with the accused later leaving alone carrying a bag. Her body was subsequently recovered from the same room.
The investigation continues as authorities piece together the full extent of this tragic and horrifying case, highlighting issues of relationship violence, mental health, and the impact of disturbing online content.
