Indore Showroom Employee Arrested for Rs 2.5 Crore Theft

INDORE: A 19-year-old showroom employee was arrested by Lasudia police for allegedly stealing valuables worth around Rs 2.5 crore from Patel Motors, a Maruti car showroom on AB Road in Indore.

DCP Aman Singh Rathore said the showroom's operations manager Surendra Chaudhary had lodged a complaint on Wednesday stating that Apple iPhones, gold ornaments and silver coins kept inside a cabin had been stolen by an unidentified person.

A case was registered under Section 305(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and an investigation was launched.

A special team led by Lasudia police station in-charge Rajkumar Yadav examined CCTV footage, technical evidence and other inputs. During the probe, suspicion fell on Lucky Borasi, son of Jeetu Borasi, a resident of Badi Gwaltoli. He was taken into custody and questioned.

During interrogation, Lucky allegedly confessed that he had taken advantage of his employment at the showroom and stole the items from the owner's cabin and locker. Police said he also admitted to stealing the gold canopy and diamond-studded crown associated with Khodiyar Mata temple. Police recovered the entire stolen property, whose estimated value is around Rs 2.5 crore, and formally arrested the accused. Investigators said the youth committed the theft to fulfil his expensive lifestyle and are questioning him to ascertain whether he was involved in any other offences.

The accused has been identified as Lucky Borasi, 19, son of Jeetu Borasi, a resident of Kali Tanki area near Ajay Kirana Store in Badi Gwaltoli, Indore.

Police have obtained his remand and further investigation is underway.
