In a shocking case of betrayal and violence, the Rachakonda police in Hyderabad have arrested three individuals, including a 36-year-old woman and her much younger lover, for the alleged premeditated murder of her husband. The victim, a 45-year-old logistics manager at a private university, was strangled at his own home in Boduppal.
The Gruesome Crime and Initial Deception
According to the official release from the Rachakonda police commissionerate, the murder took place on December 11. The police stated that the victim was killed by his wife in collusion with a 22-year-old construction worker, with whom she was having an "illicit relationship," and another accomplice. The method was brutal: the man was allegedly strangled using chunnis (scarves).
In a bid to cover up the crime, the woman initially told relatives that her husband had succumbed to a heart attack. She later formalized this false narrative by lodging a complaint at the Medipally police station. In her complaint, she claimed that her husband was found unconscious in their bathroom and was later declared dead at the government hospital in Malkajgiri.
Police Investigation Unravels the Truth
A case was registered based on her complaint, launching a police investigation. The probe quickly took a sinister turn when forensic examination revealed suspicious injuries on the body, including tell-tale marks on the cheek and neck. These injuries raised serious doubts about the heart attack theory and pointed towards foul play.
Investigators then turned to CCTV footage and technical evidence, which ultimately led them to the truth. The evidence was damning enough for the police to arrest the wife, her paramour, and the third accused.
Motive and Chilling Execution
During interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed to the plot. The police revealed that the husband had begun suspecting the extramarital affair and was questioning and harassing his wife about it. Fearing exposure and seeking a way out, the woman and her lover allegedly conspired to eliminate him.
"On December 11, after the manager returned home from work, the second and third accused caught hold of him and assaulted him, while the woman, the prime accused, held his legs," the police detailed. "The second accused (the paramour) then strangulated the man using chunnis, causing his death."
In a cold-blooded attempt to destroy evidence, the trio then changed the victim's clothes and disposed of the incriminating articles used in the crime. Their plan, however, unraveled under the scrutiny of a meticulous police investigation.
All three accused are now in custody as the Rachakonda police continue to build their case for prosecution.
