Hyderabad: A sub-inspector was arrested on Wednesday by the Kukatpally police for allegedly sexually exploiting and cheating a junior colleague. The accused policeman was already under suspension following an internal inquiry.
Details of the Case
The accused, Suresh Kumar, a sub-inspector from the 2018 batch, was last posted at the Kollur police station. While serving there, he lured a lower-rank policewoman working at another station in the city into a relationship by promising to marry her. A Cyberabad police officer stated, "The SI initially concealed the fact that he was already married. Later, when the victim discovered he was married and confronted him, the SI lied, saying he would divorce his wife and marry her."
Sexual Exploitation and Deceit
The accused sexually exploited the woman multiple times by assuring her of marriage. However, he recently began avoiding her. Alarmed by his sudden change in behavior, the woman confronted him, and the accused refused to marry her. Distressed, she filed a complaint with the Kukatpally police in April.
Legal Action
Based on her complaint, police registered a case under Section 69 (sexual intercourse by employing deceitful means, etc.) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. An internal inquiry was ordered, and the SI was placed under suspension. On Wednesday, Kukatpally police arrested SI Suresh Kumar. Balanagar ACP P Naresh Reddy said, "He will be produced before court for judicial remand."
