Massive Explosion Rocks Illegal Gas Cylinder Unit in Hyderabad
A powerful explosion shook an illegal gas cylinder refuelling unit in Hyderabad's Kukatpally area late Tuesday evening. The blast occurred in Prashanth Nagar around 9 pm, sending residents into a state of panic.

Authorities revealed the unit was operating in clear violation of safety norms. The owners held a commercial licence but engaged in illegal activities. They were refuelling and supplying cylinders meant for domestic use without proper authorization.
"There was a blast involving nearly 10 to 15 small cylinders," said an officer from the Kukatpally police station. "Prima facie, it appears to have been caused by a gas leak. A detailed investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause."
Police have registered a case against the unit owners at the Kukatpally police station. The charges include operating illegally and violating safety regulations.
Dramatic Scene and Firefighting Efforts
Visuals from the scene showed dramatic flames shooting from the structure. Thick smoke billowed into the air, alarming residents throughout the surrounding area.
Firefighters rushed to the spot immediately after receiving the alert. They deployed three fire tenders from the Kukatpally fire station to combat the blaze.
The fire personnel worked diligently for nearly one hour. They successfully brought the intense fire under control through their efforts.
