Hyderabad Software Employee Found Dead in Farmhouse Pool

HYDERABAD: A 27-year-old software engineer, Gandla Ramu, died after being discovered in a swimming pool at a farmhouse during a team outing in Choutuppal on Saturday night. Police are investigating whether the incident was an accidental drowning or a murder.

According to Choutuppal Inspector N Manmadha Rao, Ramu had gone to the farmhouse with around 20 colleagues and their team leader for a party. During the gathering, the group consumed alcohol, and Ramu allegedly had an argument with another employee. Around 1 am, Ramu was found lying in the swimming pool. Colleagues attempted CPR, but he could not be revived.

Police stated that a postmortem examination will determine the exact cause of death. Inspector G Manmadha Kumar said, “His parents, in their complaint, have alleged that he was hit with a stick following an altercation. We have registered a murder case accordingly. There were 20 people at the party, and all were drunk.”

Investigators are questioning attendees and trying to establish the sequence of events before Ramu entered the pool. Officials will also seek details from the Excise Department regarding liquor consumption at the farmhouse.
