A shocking case of domestic violence has emerged from Hisar district in Haryana, where a young woman was allegedly strangled to death by her own husband. The incident, which occurred on Saturday morning, has left a two-year-old child orphaned and a community in mourning.
Details of the Dobhi Village Tragedy
The victim has been identified as 23-year-old Monika, a resident of Dobhi village near Hisar. According to police, the accused is her husband, Mangeram. The couple had been married for a few years. Monika was originally from Dumki village in Rajasthan's Churu district.
Preliminary investigation by the Hisar police indicates that the crime took place around 9 am on Saturday. Mangeram allegedly strangled his wife to death. Following the act, he reportedly made phone calls to inform both his parents and his in-laws about what he had done.
Arrest and Confession Under New Law
After informing the families, Mangeram himself dialled the emergency number '112' to report the murder. A police team swiftly reached the location, later finding the accused on Telwani Road within Dobhi village.
The police have arrested Mangeram, who, during interrogation, confessed to the crime. His stated motive was suspicion regarding his wife's character. A case has been registered against him under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the new penal code that has replaced the Indian Penal Code.
Aftermath and Ongoing Investigation
Following the emergency call, a police team accompanied by Monika's family members reached the spot. The authorities took the body into custody and initiated a detailed investigation into the circumstances surrounding the murder.
The tragic event highlights the grim reality of gender-based violence within households. Monika is survived by her two-year-old son, whose future now hangs in the balance. The local community and authorities are grappling with the brutality of a crime that has cut a young life short over baseless suspicions.
