Hisar Court Delivers Verdict in 2021 Robbery Case, Imposes 10-Year Sentence
In a significant ruling, the court of additional sessions judge Manglesh Kumar Choubey in Hisar has convicted a youth in a nearly five-year-old robbery case, sentencing him to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on the convict, marking a decisive conclusion to the legal proceedings.
Details of the Conviction and Co-Accused
The convict has been identified as Arun, also known as Kaku, who is a resident of Urban Estate in Hisar. Meanwhile, the co-accused in the case, Ajit, also from Urban Estate, was declared a proclaimed offender by the court. This status means that legal proceedings against Ajit will continue separately as per the law, as he remains absconding.
Background of the Robbery Incident
According to the prosecution, the case dates back to March 6, 2021, when a complaint was lodged at the Urban Estate police station. The complainant, Harkesh Chauhan, a resident of Model Town Extension who runs a stationery and general store, reported the incident. Chauhan stated that he and his son were present at the shop when the accused arrived on a motorcycle in the afternoon.
As per the complaint, one of the youths entered the shop and asked to see undergarments, while the other remained seated on the motorcycle outside. When the shopkeeper turned to fetch the item, the accused allegedly opened the counter drawer and stole a bag containing Rs 20,000 in cash. When Chauhan's son attempted to intervene and stop the thief, the accused slapped him and threatened to kill him. The accused also allegedly threatened the shopkeeper before fleeing the spot along with his accomplice.
Investigation and Trial Outcome
The complainant managed to note down the motorcycle's registration number during the incident, which proved crucial for the police investigation. Based on this information, law enforcement officials identified and arrested the accused. After a thorough trial, the court found Arun alias Kaku guilty of the charges. The sentence of 10 years rigorous imprisonment and the fine were awarded, underscoring the severity of the crime. The proceedings against the absconding co-accused, Ajit, will proceed as mandated by legal protocols.
