In a tragic turn of events surrounding a couple's suicide pact, a 24-year-old woman from a Bhiwani village died by hanging at a hotel in Hisar, while her 26-year-old partner survived and now faces serious charges of rape and murder based on allegations from her family.
Incident Details
The couple, who shared a romantic relationship, checked into the hotel on Saturday evening. Fearing that their families would never approve of their marriage, they made a desperate decision. Early Sunday morning, they attempted to end their lives. The woman hanged herself first. As she writhed in agony, the man panicked. He attempted to follow suit but quickly removed the noose from his neck and escaped death. He then locked the room and wandered aimlessly in the city for nearly 12 hours.
Man Surrenders at Police Station
Around 7 pm, the man returned to the hotel, collected his bag, and walked into the city police station to report the incident. Officers rushed to the scene, recovered the woman's body, and informed her family. A post-mortem examination was promptly conducted, and the body was handed over to her relatives after formalities.
Family Alleges Rape and Murder
City police station in-charge Amit Kundu stated that the family alleged the man first raped the deceased before staging the suicide as a cover for murder. “We've registered a case of murder and rape against him on their complaint. The investigation is ongoing, but further action will depend on the autopsy report,” Kundu said.
Investigation Underway
The police are currently investigating the case, with the autopsy report expected to provide crucial evidence. The man remains in custody as authorities piece together the events leading to the woman's death.
