Heavy Security in Panchkula for Amit Shah Visit on Dec 24

Ahead of Union Home Minister Amit Shah's scheduled visit to Panchkula on December 24, the district police have rolled out extensive and stringent security measures across the city. The preparations aim to ensure a smooth and secure event for the high-profile visit.

High-Level Security Review and Massive Deployment

A crucial security review meeting was conducted late on Monday evening to assess the readiness and coordinate the deployment plans. The meeting was chaired by Panchkula Police Commissioner and ADGP, Sibash Kabiraj, at the GO Mess in the Police Lines.

For the event, authorities have planned a robust, multi-layered security cover. The force will be led by 10 officers of SP or DCP rank, supported by 4 Additional SPs, 41 DSPs or ACPs, and 90 police inspectors. This command structure will be backed by approximately 2,750 police personnel on the ground.

To further bolster the security grid, additional police forces have been mobilized from various police ranges, commissionerates, and districts across Haryana. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Srishti Gupta has been appointed as the overall in-charge of the security arrangements. She will supervise and monitor all planning and deployment aspects, ensuring seamless coordination and timely execution of movement, route, and crowd management plans.

Traffic Restrictions and Route Closures

To facilitate the smooth and secure movement of the Home Minister's convoy, the police have announced significant traffic restrictions across several parts of Panchkula.

The following routes will remain closed for general traffic from 12 noon on December 24 until the program concludes:

  • The route from Singh Dwar Light Point, Mansa Devi via Old Panchkula to Tau Devi Lal Stadium.
  • Stretches from Sector 6/7 Light Point via Shalimar Chowk towards Sectors 8/9 and 9/10.
  • The route from Singh Dwar to Kohni Sahib Gurdwara via Sai Dairy.
  • The road from Dolphin Chowk towards Panchkula.

Additionally, the Chandigarh-Panchkula route via Saketri will remain closed for the entire day. Commuters travelling from Chandigarh to Panchkula are advised to use internal routes via the Housing Board through Sectors 17 and 18.

Parking and Public Advisory

For attendees of the program at the Indradhanush Auditorium, the authorities have designated Dharna Sthal in Sector 5 as the authorized parking area.

The police have appealed to commuters and residents to strictly follow the issued advisories and cooperate with the traffic arrangements to avoid any inconvenience. The extensive planning underscores the importance of the visit and the administration's commitment to maintaining law and order during the high-security event.
