The Karnataka High Court on Wednesday dismissed a petition filed by the Kamakshipalya police seeking the cancellation of bail granted to five accused in the Renukaswamy murder case. The case has actor Darshan and his friend Pavitra Gowda as the two main accused.
Court Ruling
Justice S Rachaiah rejected the petitions in which the police sought to revoke the bail granted to Dhanraju D (accused number 9), Puttaswamy alias Pavan K and Raghavendra (accused numbers 3 and 4), Nandeesh (accused number 5), and V Vinay (accused number 10). These five individuals were granted bail by the trial court on December 23, 2024, two weeks after Darshan and others received bail from the high court.
Background
The Supreme Court had subsequently cancelled the bail granted to Darshan and others. The high court's decision to uphold the trial court's bail order for the five accused underscores the legal principle that bail once granted should not be lightly revoked unless there are compelling reasons.
The Renukaswamy murder case has attracted significant media attention due to the involvement of actor Darshan, a prominent figure in the Kannada film industry. The case continues to unfold with various legal proceedings.
