In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Daru police in Hazaribag district seized a large quantity of ganja and arrested one person on Friday. The operation took place near the Shivane River under Tatijharia police limits.

Police Act on Tip-Off, Intercept Accused

Acting on a specific tip-off, a police team led by SDPO Baijnath Prasad laid a trap in the area. They successfully intercepted the accused, identified as Chandan Kumar, while he was allegedly transporting the contraband. The ganja was being moved from Siliguri towards Ranchi.

The police seized a total of 48 kilograms of ganja during the operation. Authorities estimated the value of the seized drugs to be several lakhs in the illegal market. This seizure represents a major blow to local drug trafficking networks.

Case Registered, Investigation Underway

Following the arrest, Daru police station registered a case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act. Further investigation is currently underway to uncover more details about the smuggling operation.

During interrogation, Chandan Kumar revealed crucial information to the police. He confessed to smuggling the ganja in collaboration with his associates. The accused named two other individuals involved in the racket.
