Haryana FDA seizes 21,400 illegal narcotic tablets in Sirsa

In a significant crackdown on the illicit drug trade, the Haryana Food and Drug Administration (FDA), in a joint operation with the state police, has seized a massive haul of illegal narcotic medicines in Sirsa district. The raids led to the recovery of thousands of tablets and the sealing of a medical store.

Major Haul from Village Medical Store

The action was initiated following specific complaints about the illegal stocking and sale of narcotic drugs. Acting on the orders of State Health Minister Arti Singh Rao, Drug Control Officer Sunil Kumar led a team to a medical store in Dharampura village.

During a thorough inspection, officials discovered a substantial cache of unauthorized medicines. The seizure included 600 Tapentadol tablets and 1,200 Pregabalin (IP 300 mg) capsules. The owner of the store, Khushvinder Singh, failed to produce any legitimate sale or purchase records for the recovered narcotic drugs.

Following protocol, samples were collected using Form-17, an official inspection report was filed, and the premises were immediately sealed. Further legal proceedings will be pursued under the stringent Drugs and Control Act.

Second Interception Nets Even Larger Cache

In a coordinated follow-up operation, Drug Control Officer Sunil Kumar, working with the CIA branch in Sirsa, conducted another successful raid. This operation targeted individuals allegedly involved in the illegal transportation of drugs.

The team intercepted Amanpreet Singh and Vikas near Dabwali. From their possession, authorities recovered an astonishing 19,500 'Tapdol' tablets and 100 SR (Tapentadol Hydrochloride) tablets, which were being moved for unauthorized supply.

State Vows Continued Action Against Drug Rackets

State Drug Controller Lalit Goyal emphasized that these operations are part of a sustained drive to eradicate the illegal drug network in Haryana. He reiterated the government's commitment, under the directives of the health minister, to take swift and decisive action against all entities involved in the unlawful sale and distribution of narcotic medicines.

The twin raids, which collectively netted over 21,400 illegal tablets and capsules, send a strong message to drug peddlers. The Haryana FDA's proactive stance, coupled with police collaboration, marks a crucial step in safeguarding public health from the dangers of unregulated narcotic drugs.
