Gurugram Police Arrest Man in Rs 30 Lakh Railway Job Scam

The Gurugram police have arrested a 45-year-old man for allegedly defrauding a job seeker of nearly Rs 30 lakh by falsely promising employment in the Indian Railways under the sports quota. The accused, identified as Satish, alias Srinivas, a resident of Beri village in Mahendragarh district, was taken into custody from MG Road in Gurugram on Wednesday.

Complaint Filed in April 2026

The complainant approached the Bhondsi police station on April 17, 2026, alleging that Satish and his associates induced him to pay approximately Rs 30 lakh between November 2025 and January 2026. The money was collected under the pretext of securing a railway job through the sports quota, with the accused providing fake appointment letters and charging fees for medical examinations and training.

Based on the complaint, the Bhondsi police registered an FIR under relevant sections of the law. A police spokesperson stated that the accused’s criminal record revealed his involvement in two prior cases in Mahendragarh district related to cheating, offenses under the Haryana Public Examination Act, criminal intimidation, and assault. Additionally, another case was registered against him in Sikar district, Rajasthan, under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and other criminal provisions.

Well-Planned Conspiracy Uncovered

Investigation indicated that Satish, along with his associates, orchestrated a well-planned conspiracy to defraud the complainant by falsely promising a railway job and collecting substantial sums of money. The accused is currently being questioned by the police to uncover further details of the scam and identify other victims.

The arrest highlights the ongoing issue of job scams in India, where fraudsters exploit the desperation of job seekers by offering fake employment opportunities. The Gurugram police have urged the public to verify job offers through official channels and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
