Two Separate Road Accidents in Gurgaon Claim Lives of Driver and Pedestrian
In a tragic series of events, Gurgaon witnessed two fatal road accidents within a short span, resulting in the deaths of a driver and a pedestrian. The incidents have prompted police action under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), highlighting ongoing road safety concerns in the region.
Fatal Crash on Binola Flyover: Driver Succumbs to Injuries
On Wednesday night, a 38-year-old driver, identified as Arun Kumar from Mandoli, Delhi, lost his life after his mini-truck collided with a parked truck on the Binola flyover along National Highway 8 (NH8). According to police reports, Kumar was en route to Khushkheda in Rajasthan with goods around 11 pm when the accident occurred.
Authorities stated that the parked truck was allegedly without indicators or reflectors, contributing to the crash. Kumar sustained severe injuries to his head and legs and was trapped in the vehicle. He was extricated using a crane and rushed to a government hospital in Pataudi, where he was declared dead upon arrival.
Following a complaint from Kumar's family, the Bilaspur police station has registered a case under sections 106 (causing death by negligence) and 281 (rash driving) of the BNS. This incident underscores the dangers of improper parking on highways and the critical need for vehicle safety measures.
Pedestrian Struck by Speeding Vehicle Near Pachgaon Chowk
In another distressing incident, a 26-year-old man, Sonu, a resident of Khoh village in Manesar, died after being hit by an unidentified vehicle near Pachgaon Chowk on Tuesday night. Sonu, who worked at a private company, was reportedly waiting for transport at the KMP Panchgaon Chowk when a speeding vehicle struck him.
He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital but was declared dead. Police identified Sonu through a mobile phone found on his person. After an autopsy, his body was handed over to his family for last rites.
The Bilaspur police station has filed a case in this matter under sections 106, 281, and 125 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety) of the BNS. This accident highlights the perils faced by pedestrians on busy roads and the urgency for enhanced traffic enforcement.
Police Response and Legal Actions
Both cases have been registered at the Bilaspur police station, with authorities invoking multiple sections of the BNS to address negligence and rash driving. These incidents serve as a grim reminder of the importance of road safety protocols and the consequences of non-compliance.
