Three Suspects Apprehended in Gurgaon Loan Recovery Firing Incident
In a significant development, Gurgaon police have arrested three persons on Monday in connection with a disturbing incident involving firing in the air and death threats over a loan dispute. The episode unfolded in Pachgaon on March 8, highlighting escalating tensions in financial recovery matters.
Details of the Complaint and Initial Encounter
According to the official complaint filed by Dharmender at the Bilaspur police station, the conflict originated from a loan of Rs 10,000. Dharmender, acting on behalf of his employer Ramesh, had approached Deba, a tea vendor in Manesar, to recover the money that was lent three years ago for a ten-day period but allegedly never returned.
During his initial visit, Deba assured Dharmender that the payment would be settled within two days. However, when Dharmender followed up, Deba redirected him to Sandeep Gurjar, a resident of Bissar village, claiming that Gurjar would make the cash payment.
The Confrontation and Threats
The situation took a violent turn when Sandeep Gurjar arrived at the scene. Instead of resolving the payment, Gurjar fired a shot into the air and explicitly threatened to kill Dharmender if he continued to demand repayment. This act of intimidation was compounded by subsequent threatening audio messages sent by Gurjar to Dharmender, despite there being no prior history of disputes between the parties involved.
Police Investigation and Legal Proceedings
Dharmender formally lodged his complaint on March 9, prompting the police to initiate a verification process. Investigators faced initial challenges as CCTV cameras in the vicinity were found to be non-functional. However, the case gained momentum on March 15 when an eyewitness came forward to corroborate Dharmender's account of the incident.
Based on the complaint and the eyewitness testimony, authorities registered a case under multiple legal provisions. The charges include Section 287 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for rash or negligent acts involving fire or combustible materials that endanger human life, Section 351(2) for criminal intimidation, and relevant sections of the Arms Act.
Arrests and Recovery of Evidence
On Monday, police successfully arrested the three suspects: Sandeep Gurjar, Deba, and Puneet. A police officer involved in the case provided crucial details: "We arrested the three suspects on Monday and they were remanded in two days' custody. They were sent to judicial custody on Wednesday. We also recovered a .32 bore country-made pistol from their possession."
This recovery of an illegal firearm underscores the seriousness of the threats made during the incident. The arrests mark a decisive step in addressing violent behavior in loan recovery disputes, sending a clear message about the consequences of such criminal actions in Gurgaon.
