Gurgaon Police Make Arrest in History-Sheeter Murder Case

Gurgaon police have arrested a suspect following the fatal shooting of a 34-year-old history-sheeter near the Kherki Daula toll plaza. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening, sparking an intensive investigation by the crime branch in Manesar.

Victim Had Extensive Criminal Record

The victim, identified as Manoj Ojha, was a resident of Chhatarpur in Delhi. Police records show Ojha faced 16 criminal cases, including serious charges of murder, attempted murder, dacoity, robbery, and theft. He had recently been released on bail in 2025 after conviction in two separate cases.

WhatsApp Voice Message Points to Accomplice

Ojha's brother provided crucial evidence to investigators. He submitted a written complaint stating he received a voice message from his brother's WhatsApp number around 4:48 PM on Tuesday. The message claimed a person named Tanish had shot Ojha.

When the brother tried calling back, an ambulance driver answered and informed him Ojha had sustained a gunshot injury. Medical personnel were already transporting him to Medanta Hospital for emergency treatment.

Police Investigation Unfolds Rapidly

Police received information about the shooting at the Kherki Daula police station on January 13. A team immediately rushed to the scene near the toll plaza. They discovered the injured man had already been taken to Medanta Hospital by ambulance.

Senior officers quickly mobilized additional resources. Teams from the scene-of-crime unit, forensic science laboratory, and fingerprint bureau arrived to examine the area thoroughly.

Evidence Recovery and Arrest

During their inspection, police found a Bolero vehicle parked near the shooting location. Inside the vehicle, investigators recovered two loaded pistols. This discovery provided important physical evidence in the case.

Police then proceeded to Medanta Hospital, where doctors declared Ojha dead upon arrival. The body was subsequently sent to the mortuary in Gurgaon for a complete autopsy.

Suspect Apprehended in Delhi

Following their investigation, police arrested Lokesh, a 21-year-old resident of Patparganj in Delhi. The arrest took place in the national capital on Wednesday. Lokesh worked as a taxi driver and had accompanied Ojha and another accomplice named Tanish on Tuesday.

Police officials revealed that Tanish remains absconding. Authorities are actively searching for him as the investigation continues.

Revealing Details of the Fatal Journey

Investigators pieced together the events leading to the shooting. The three men—Ojha, Lokesh, and Tanish—traveled to Hisar with the intention of carrying out a murder. They conducted reconnaissance in the area but ultimately failed to execute their planned crime.

While returning from Hisar toward Delhi, the trio engaged in a heated argument near Manesar. During this altercation, Tanish allegedly fired at Ojha using one of three illegal weapons kept in their vehicle. The shooting proved fatal, killing Ojha on the spot.

Following the shooting, Lokesh and Tanish fled the scene. Police have registered a case at the Kherki Daula police station and continue their investigation into all aspects of this violent crime.
