Gurgaon: Two Arrested for Shooting Woman After Marriage Proposal Rejection
Gurgaon: Men arrested for shooting woman over marriage refusal

In a shocking incident of alleged obsession turning violent, Gurgaon police have arrested two men for shooting a 25-year-old married woman after she repeatedly refused a marriage proposal. The arrest came on Thursday, December 25, following a joint operation by crime branch and local police teams.

The Night of the Attack

The terrifying episode unfolded in the early hours of December 20, near a club in Gurgaon where the victim, identified as Kalpana (25), was employed. According to the police complaint filed by her husband, Kalpana had gone to work as usual on December 19. Around 1 am the following day, she made a frantic call to her husband, informing him that she had been shot in the stomach by a man named Tushar and was being rushed to the hospital.

The husband, who rushed from their home in Najafgarh to Max Hospital, submitted a written complaint to the authorities. Doctors at the hospital declared Kalpana unfit to provide a formal statement due to her medical condition. The police from the MG Road post, under the jurisdiction of DLF Sector 29 police station, acted on the information and obtained her medico-legal report (MLR).

A History of Harassment and Threats

The complaint revealed a disturbing pattern of harassment preceding the violent attack. The husband told investigators that the primary accused, Tushar, had been pressuring Kalpana to marry him for some time. Being already married, she had consistently turned down his proposals.

The situation escalated about a month prior to the shooting, when Tushar visited the couple's locality and created a major disturbance. In a brazen act of intimidation, he had even fired shots at their house, foreshadowing the more direct violence to come.

The Arrest and Confession

Following the registration of a case, teams from the crime branch in Sector 40 and the Police Post on MG Road launched a coordinated investigation. Their efforts led them to Baraut in Uttar Pradesh, where on December 25, they apprehended the two accused.

The arrested individuals were identified as Tushar alias Jonty (25) from Sangam Vihar in Delhi, and his accomplice Shubham alias Johnny (24). During interrogation, Tushar reportedly confessed to the police. He stated that he had befriended Kalpana approximately six months ago and had developed a desire to marry her.

An investigating officer shared details of the confession: "Tushar told us that on the night of the incident, he reached the club with Shubham and once again asked her to marry him. Kalpana refused as usual. He then shot at her with a pistol." This cold-blooded act was the culmination of his rejected advances.

The swift arrest highlights the police's response to a serious crime that has sent shockwaves through the community. The incident underscores the extreme dangers that can arise from obsessive behavior and the critical importance of heeding threats and previous acts of violence. The case remains under investigation as authorities work to build a strong legal case against the accused.
