Gurgaon Man Arrested for Forging Minor's Age Documents in POCSO Case

In a significant development in a Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act case, a 26-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly forging documents related to a minor girl's age in an attempt to secure anticipatory bail. The arrest was made by police in Gurgaon, highlighting the ongoing efforts to combat crimes against children.

Details of the Arrest and Accused

The accused, identified as Mohit, a resident of Prahladpur village in Faridabad, was arrested on Monday. According to police officials, Mohit had been evading authorities since a POCSO case was registered against him in August 2025 at the Sadar Ballabhgarh police station. His arrest marks a crucial step in the investigation into this serious offense.

Forgery Attempt to Misrepresent Age

Police revealed that Mohit, along with his brother and some associates, allegedly forged documents in a bid to misrepresent the age of the minor girl before the court. This fraudulent activity was intended to influence legal proceedings, particularly when Mohit applied for anticipatory bail. The court became suspicious of the submitted documents and ordered an inquiry, leading to the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) in Chhainsa.

An officer familiar with the case stated, "When the accused applied for anticipatory bail, the court became suspicious and ordered an inquiry. An FIR was registered in Chhainsa. We arrested him... his brother's arrest is pending. We will find out more about their roles during further investigation."

Investigation Findings and Legal Proceedings

During the investigation, police verified records and uncovered discrepancies in the documents submitted by the accused. This verification process confirmed the allegations of forgery, strengthening the case against Mohit. Following his arrest, he was produced before a court, which remanded him to judicial custody. Police have emphasized that further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend others involved in the case, including his brother.

The case underscores the importance of vigilance in legal matters involving minors and the severe consequences of attempting to manipulate judicial processes. Authorities are committed to ensuring that justice is served and that such fraudulent activities are thoroughly investigated.
