Gurgaon Police Announces Major Expansion with Six New Stations
In a significant move to bolster law enforcement capabilities, Gurgaon police have unveiled plans to establish six new police stations across the city. This strategic expansion comes as a response to the rapid urbanization and increasing population density observed in various sectors of the metropolitan area.
Focus on Cybercrime with Dedicated Units
Two of the six new police stations will be specialized cyber units, reflecting the growing need to combat digital crimes. Currently, Gurgaon operates four police stations: Cyber East, Cyber West, Cyber South, and Manesar. The proposed locations for the new stations include Sector 93, Sector 46, Gawalpahari, and Haileymandi—areas that have witnessed substantial development and demographic growth.
The expansion plan specifically includes proposals for one additional cyber police station each in the east and west zones. This decision underscores the rising number of cybercrime cases and the increasing reliance on digital policing methods to ensure public safety in the tech-savvy city.
High-Level Committee Meeting Drives Initiative
The decision was finalized during a C-level committee meeting chaired by Police Commissioner Vikas Arora at Police Lines on Monday. The meeting saw participation from deputy commissioners of police representing all zones of the city, along with other senior officers. During the discussions, senior officers were directed to coordinate with higher authorities and relevant departments to facilitate the early identification and allocation of land and necessary resources. This proactive approach aims to make the new stations operational at the earliest possible date.
Emphasis on Police Welfare and Facilities
Beyond infrastructure expansion, the committee placed strong emphasis on welfare measures designed to improve the working and living conditions of police personnel and their families. As part of these initiatives, a Yogeshwar Vatika has been developed within the police lines to provide personnel with a serene space to unwind and adopt a stress-free lifestyle.
Additionally, special spaces for senior citizens have been prepared in all three police lines: Gurgaon, Manesar, and Bhondsi. At the Gurgaon police lines, a dedicated rest hall for elderly men and women is nearing completion. This facility features Kota stone flooring, a tin shed, a storeroom, adequate electricity provisions including fans and tube lights, and iron grills and pipes for enhanced security. Landscaping work has also been carried out with the plantation of Ashok plants to create a pleasant environment.
Police Commissioner Vikas Arora has directed officers to complete remaining tasks, such as grinding the stone flooring and installing flex boards, within the next ten days to ensure the facility becomes fully functional.
Enhanced Cleanliness and Recreational Facilities
Cleanliness and hygiene were discussed in detail during the meeting. New public toilets for women and men have been constructed behind the administrative block near the parade ground. Officers have been instructed to ensure the construction of additional public toilets in other identified areas around the parade ground within one month.
To promote physical fitness and well-being among personnel, cricket practice nets and synthetic badminton courts have also been developed within the police lines. Commissioner Arora emphasized that improving facilities for police personnel directly enhances their efficiency and morale, contributing to better overall law enforcement in the city.
This comprehensive expansion and welfare initiative marks a significant step forward in strengthening Gurgaon's police infrastructure, addressing both operational needs and the personal well-being of those who serve to protect the community.
