A devastating road accident in the Nehru Colony area of Faridabad resulted in the death of a seven-year-old girl on Monday. The child, identified as Aamna, was reportedly hit by a water tanker while returning home from her morning classes.
Tragic Incident Unfolds Near Mosque
The incident occurred around 10 am. According to the initial complaint filed by her father, Asfaq, the family are residents of Singar village in Nuh but live as tenants in Nehru Colony. Asfaq stated that a tractor, bearing registration number UP13AQ8140, was approaching from the direction of the mosque at high speed and hit his daughter from behind.
Contradictory Accounts from Police Probe
However, the police investigation has presented a different sequence of events. A senior police officer said the probe suggests that after leaving the mosque, Aamna was playing with other children near the stationary tractor. "The driver suddenly started the vehicle, after which the wheels of both tankers allegedly ran over her," the officer explained.
Immediately after the accident, locals rushed to help. The driver, identified as Mukesh, along with some residents, arranged a private vehicle and took the critically injured girl to Fortis Escorts Hospital. Tragically, doctors declared her dead on arrival.
Arrest and Community Grief
The police acted swiftly and arrested the driver, Mukesh, soon after the incident. The community in Nehru Colony has been left in shock and mourning over the sudden loss of the young child. The case highlights ongoing concerns about road safety, especially in residential areas where children are present.
The authorities are continuing their investigation to piece together the exact circumstances that led to this fatal accident. The tragic death of Aamna underscores the urgent need for stricter enforcement of traffic rules and speed limits in neighborhood zones to prevent such heartbreaking incidents in the future.
