In Gandhinagar, Director General of Police K L N Rao convened a crucial meeting on Monday to meticulously review the extensive security arrangements being implemented for the smooth and secure conduct of the local body elections scheduled for later this month. Appointment of Nodal Officer and Security Oversight
According to an official statement released after the meeting, ATS ADGP Amit Vishwakarma has been designated as the nodal officer responsible for overseeing all critical aspects of security during the elections. Election Code of Conduct in Force
The election code of conduct has officially come into effect for a wide array of local bodies, including elections for 15 municipal corporations, 84 municipalities, 34 district panchayats, and 260 taluka panchayats. State Police Chief K L N Rao conducted a detailed video conference with all police commissioners and district superintendents of police. High-ranking police officers have received strict instructions to enhance combing operations in various sensitive districts across Gujarat. Key Election Dates and Schedule
The electoral timeline has been clearly outlined, with the final date for filing nomination papers set for April 11, followed by the last date for withdrawal on April 15. Voting for the local body elections is scheduled to take place on April 26, with the counting of votes commencing on April 28. Additionally, voting for the Umreth assembly seat byelection will be held separately on April 23.
