Gujarat ATS Nabs Haryana Gang's Sharpshooter in Kutch Hideout
Gujarat ATS arrests Haryana gang sharpshooter in Kutch

In a significant crackdown, the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) successfully apprehended a wanted sharpshooter linked to a notorious gang from Haryana. The operation, conducted in coordination with the Special Operations Group (SOG) and the East Kutch Local Crime Branch (LCB), led to the arrest of two individuals from Rapar in Kutch district on Sunday.

Joint Operation Traces Fugitive to Kutch Hideout

Acting on precise intelligence inputs, the Gujarat ATS tracked the movements of Vikas Sheoran, a native of Kakroli village in Haryana and an active member of the Rohit Godara–Naveen Boxer gang. The information suggested Sheoran was hiding in Rapar. After thorough verification by ATS officers, the details were shared with the East Kutch police, prompting the formation of a joint team.

The team located Sheoran at a residence in Nageshwar Park, Rapar. He was staying with an acquaintance, Dinkesh Garg, originally from Kaithal, Haryana, but currently living in Kutch. Both men were detained and transported to the Gujarat ATS headquarters in Ahmedabad for questioning.

Connection to a Brazen Court Premises Murder

During preliminary interrogation, investigators uncovered Sheoran's alleged involvement in a high-profile murder case. He is accused in the killing of Lavjeet Kumar, a resident of Rohtak, who was shot dead inside the court premises in Bhiwani city, Haryana, on September 4.

Police stated the murder was a result of inter-gang rivalry and part of a pre-planned conspiracy. According to investigators, Sheoran, along with associates Ajay and Rohit, opened fire at close range. The firearms used in the crime were reportedly supplied by gang leader Rohit Godara. A case was registered at the Bhiwani Police Lines station.

Following the killing, Sheoran went underground. In November, on instructions from his gang's leadership, he shifted to Gujarat and sought shelter with Dinkesh Garg in Kutch.

Accomplice Admits to Sheltering the Accused

During interrogation, Dinkesh Garg revealed to the police that he knew Naveen Boxer personally. He admitted to providing shelter to Vikas Sheoran after receiving instructions during conversations with the gang leader, despite being aware of Sheoran's criminal background.

After confirming all details, the Gujarat ATS informed the Haryana Special Task Force (STF). Subsequently, both Vikas Sheoran and Dinkesh Garg were handed over to the Haryana STF for further investigation and necessary legal proceedings.

This coordinated operation highlights the effectiveness of interstate police collaboration in tracking down dangerous criminals attempting to evade capture across state borders.
