Daily commuters traveling between Gudhiyari and Raipur's Expressway stretch are likely to face traffic congestion and longer travel times for the next two weeks as the railway administration is set to temporarily shut the Gudhiyari railway underbridge for maintenance work from June 4.
Impact on Commuters
The affected stretch serves as a major connectivity route for commuters traveling from the railway station side towards Gudhiyari via the Expressway. It is frequently used by office-goers, school vehicles, and local traffic on a daily basis. The closure is expected to disrupt the daily routine of thousands of residents who rely on this route for their commute.
Official Advisory
According to an advisory issued by Raipur traffic police, based on an official notice from South East Central Railway, vehicular movement through the Gudhiyari railway underbridge located at the Bilaspur-end yard of Raipur railway station will remain completely closed from June 4 to June 18. Officials stated that the closure is required for the construction of a cover shed and pipe-laying work to be carried out by the railway department.
Alternative Routes
Authorities have suggested the following alternative routes during the closure period:
- Telghani Naka overbridge
- Chunabhatti underbridge
These routes are expected to help commuters bypass the closed section, though they may also experience increased traffic volume.
Appeals to Commuters
Officials have appealed to commuters to leave early, expect diversions, and follow on-ground traffic instructions to avoid congestion around adjoining stretches. The temporary closure is expected to increase traffic load on nearby connecting roads, particularly during morning and evening rush hours. Commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and allow extra time for travel.
The railway department has assured that the maintenance work will be completed within the stipulated timeframe to minimize inconvenience. Residents and daily travelers are urged to cooperate with traffic personnel and adhere to the suggested diversions for a smoother experience during this period.
