A devastating incident in South Goa has left a community in mourning after a one-and-a-half-year-old toddler tragically drowned in a pond near his family home in Benaulim on Monday. The young child was reportedly under the supervision of a neighbour at the time of the accident.

At around 10:30 am on Monday, the caretaker last saw the toddler asleep inside the house. Leaving the child unattended, she returned approximately half an hour later to check on him, only to discover he was missing.
An immediate alarm was raised, prompting neighbours to swiftly join a frantic search for the missing boy. The search ended in heartbreak when the toddler was found in a nearby pond. He was rushed to the South Goa District Hospital for emergency medical attention. However, doctors at the hospital declared him 'brought dead'.
